Amy Burk
Dr. Amy Burk is an assistant professor and extension horse specialist in the Department of Animal and Avian Sciences at the University of Maryland. She serves as the coordinator for the undergraduate equine studies track and graduate equine research program. Dr. Burk teaches courses on horse management and equine science, gives presentations to members of the horse industry in the Mid-Atlantic region and conducts equine nutrition research.
Dr. Burk grew up in Anne Arundel County, riding in the Linthicum 4-H Hi-Riders and the St. Margaret’s Pony Club. She earned an M.S. (1998) and Ph.D. (2001) in Animal Nutrition from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
