Dr. N. Jo Chapman

Dr. N. Jo Chapman is Assistant Chief of Operations and Regional Veterinarian for the Eastern Shore Region. Dr. Chapman has a diverse regulatory, public health and private practice background. In her job with MDA, she is responsible for managing routine animal health field operations and readiness, regulation revisions and federal Cooperative Agreements. She is also acting State Veterinarian in the absence of the State Veterinarian Dr. Guy Hohenhaus. Dr. Chapman started her career as an environmental health officer for the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy, working with local San Francisco Bay Region agencies in public health including emergency preparedness, pollution and toxics control, and occupational health. Since then she has worked in clinical veterinary practice for 10 years. She is a graduate of the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine and is a licensed veterinarian in Maryland and California. She earned her Masters of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Virginia. Dr. Chapman is also a registered environmental sanitarian, registered environmental health specialist and a certified industrial hygienist.
