Director of the Maryland Department of Agriculture Animal Health Laboratory Dr. Virginia Pierce Dr. Virginia Pierce is the Director of the MDA Animal Health Laboratory in Frederick, where she has worked for the past seven years. She conducts necropsy and diagnostics, directs contagious equine metritis (CEM) and equine infectious anemia (EIA) testing and the equine laboratory diagnostics. Dr. Pierce trained in veterinary pathology and worked as a pathologist at the University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center, was vice president and pathologist for Zoological Society of Philadelphia, executive director and pathologist for the Tri State Bird Rescue Director and has over 20 years of pathology experience.
